Georgia student nurse programs

Rome, GA Student Nurse Programs

Atrium Health Floyd is proud to offer year-long and summer student nursing programs in Rome, Georgia.

Our Nurse Tech Program is an employment opportunity for nursing students who have successfully completed their first semester of nursing school. Nurse techs are paid employees who benefit from a flexible work schedule designed to ensure a healthy school/work balance, on-the-job training and an opportunity to learn more about Floyd.

The Atrium Health Floyd Summer Nursing Externship offers nursing students a unique opportunity to gain projectbased learning experience through a 7week paid summer program. Designed primarily for students who live in Northwest Georgia and are interested in working at Atrium Health after graduation, the program allows participants to gain exposure at Atrium Health Floyd while home for the summer or during other school breaks. This is a shadowingonly experience that provides visibility into a variety of clinical areas, including Critical Care, Med Surg, the Emergency Room, Floyd Behavioral Health and Outpatient Surgery.

Program Highlights

  • Formalized structured goals to be achieved by the end of the externship
  • Weekly report of experiences and projects to be completed by the extern
  • Meetings with Atrium Health Floyd leaders across the organization to gain further understanding of the system and the many different career opportunities available
  • Weekly professional development workshops
  • Participation in a group project with a formal presentation at the end of the extern program
  • Summer Nurse Externs will have the opportunity to stay on as a year-round extern (Nurse Tech)

Program Dates

  • Must be available to work the entirety of the seven week program (May 31-July 16, 2027)

Eligibility

  • Must be a rising or current senior nursing student
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA
  • Must have one letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor
  • The program is open to any nursing student, however priority is given to students who reside in Northwest Georgia

Greater Charlotte Region Student Nurse Programs

The Student Nurse Scholars Program at Atrium Health offers handson learning and flexible scheduling for LPN and RN students in good academic standing.

Eligibility:

  • Currently in good standing in a prelicensure LPN or RN academic program
  • Completion of first semester preferred
  • Nurse Aide I credentials required
  • Relevant hospital patient care experience preferred

Scheduling & hours:

  • PRN (minimum of three 12hour shifts in a sixweek period); Parttime and Fulltime options may be available.

Eligibility:

  • Currently in good standing in a Registered Nurse academic program
  • Completion of first semester of prelicensure RN program preferred

The Nurse Externship Program is an eightweek, oneonone clinical experience with an RN preceptor, plus professional development workshops.

Eligibility

  • Open to nursing students graduating in Fall/Winter 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Nurse Scholars and nursing students home for summer are eligible
  • Nurse Aide I credentials required before March 1, 2027
  • Nurse Aide II credentials encouraged but not required

Scheduling & Hours

  • 24 hrs/week (Part‑time) or 36 hrs/week (Full‑time) in an Atrium Health Greater Charlotte facility
  • Works under NA scope with RN preceptor
  • Includes professional development workshops
  • Two additional 4–12 hr shadowing opportunities (varies by facility)

Program Dates

  • 2026 cohorts: May 17-July 10 and May 31-July 24.

Eligibility

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing
  • Active LPN license
  • Commitment to complete extensive didactic and handson clinical training in 6 months

  • Fastpaced environment; adaptability is essential
  • Exposure to specialties: general, robotics, orthopedics, plastics, and more

Piedmont Triad Region Student Nurse Programs

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist’s student nurse programs are located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, including High Point, Lexington, North Wilkesboro and Winston-Salem.

The Nurse Extern Summer Program at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist offers a nine-week paid opportunity for rising senior nursing students to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside our experienced team in our five hospitals.

Nurse Externs discover new nursing specialties by shadowing experts in various specialty areas, attending educational sessions about clinical and professional topics, and developing clinical and leadership skills while preparing to become registered nurses.

Clinical opportunities:

  • General: NICU, Pediatrics, Operating Room, PACU, Women’s Health, Emergency Department
  • Specialized Critical Care: Burns, Cardiovascular, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Intermediate Care, Medical, Trauma
  • Acute Care: Behavioral Health, Burns and Plastic Surgery, General Medicine, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Transplant, Renal, Cardiology, General Surgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Trauma, Family Medicine

Eligibility requirements:

  • Scheduled to complete Med/Surg clinical by Spring 2027
  • Must be listed as an NA I with the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry by April 16, 2027
  • Must have NA II licensure posted on the North Carolina Board of Nursing by May 14, 2027

Wisconsin student nurse programs

Wisconsin Student Nurse Programs

Aurora Health Care is proud to offer student nursing programs throughout Wisconsin.

Aurora Health Care Logo

This program is designed for nursing students seeking to build additional clinical skills and strengthen their application of the nursing process in preparation for transitioning into a graduate nurse role.

Participants will complete rotations across three units at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. Each month, students will rotate to a new unit, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations, unit cultures, and leadership styles, while engaging with interdisciplinary care teams and staff.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a Senior Nursing student graduating in December 2026.
  • School transcripts with Med Surg and Pharmacology Courses successfully completed.

Program dates:

 The cohort starts August 3rd, 2026, and requires a mandatory 40-hour commitment during the first week, followed by a commitment of one 8-hour shift per week for remainder of the program.
